The travel big bit me when I was young, and I’ve been infected ever since. These days I still travel solo when I want to connect with myself.
When I was a teenager, I saved all my babysitting money to pay for a teen trip to Australia in 10th grade, and in 12th grade, I participated in an essay contest about world peace, and was selected to be one of 25 teens to travel to Egypt. The trip was a 100% expenses paid trip to travel around the country and participate in conflict resolution workshops we could bring back to our home towns.
And since then, I’ve traveled solo around Syria, lived in the Middle East for 2 years, hitchhiked in Tanzania with my sister, and flew on a one propeller plane in Guatemala with Stevie.
Travel is kinda my thing.
Which brings me to today’s interview:
I invited a fellow yoga teacher + travel addict to share how traveling for her became a tool for self-exploration, self-love, and self-acceptance. Here’s what you’ll learn in this episode:
- The possibilities of what happens when you travel by yourself
- To plan or not plan your adventures, and the point at which transformation happens
- And we dive into how yoga philosophy can help you cultivate the right dating mindset
Meg Townsend loves breathing in life to its fullest potential and she experiences that through traveling the world, exploring her creative gifts as an opera singer, tending to her urban garden, going on photography adventures, and teaching yoga. The travel bug bit her when she ventured to Spain and France in high school, and after graduation, she decided to take a solo backpacking journey across the USA in search of the perfect college. She can be at home traveling by herself or with a group of like-minded, inspiring people. Her travels have taken her all over the world. She has combined her love of yoga with her love of the world, and guides adventurous souls around the world with the company she co-founded: Aluna Adventures.
