I have lots of opinions about self-love. Even though I believe inner child work (and any kind of self-care) is ultimately about self-love, I’ve also steered away from using the phrase. The way it’s often presented on social media lacks nuance. So I want to dive into it a little bit today about how to love yourself well and reveal my four-part framework to help you understand what it means to “love yourself” and get a better sense of whether or not you do.
3:28 – The Todd Herman quote that also describes the Instagramification of self-love well
5:36 – Something that gets lost in the #selflove talk and a popular “love yourself” mantra that doesn’t really work
11:00 – Why the first piece of my self-love framework is the cornerstone for everything
15:15 – Ways people tend to bypass or ignore the next framework piece (this is an area where self-help can trip you up)
18:41 – Why the third part of the framework makes it easier to heal
22:41 – Why the final framework piece ties back to the first and makes it easier to trust other people
25:36 – What you can do if you struggle to recognize your intuition
28:31 – Quick recap of my self-love framework
